What Happens During a Contact Lens Exam?

If you are considering making the switch from glasses to contact lenses, you will need a thorough contact lens exam from an optometrist. We will perform tests to evaluate your vision. We will also determine if you are a good candidate for contact lenses. We will explain every step of the process. First, we will measure the surface of your eyes to determine what size contacts will work best. Next, we will determine your specific prescription through a series of tests.

Choosing the Best Contact Lenses for Your Eyes

An eyeglasses prescription is no substitute for contact lenses. They are both very different since the lenses sit at different distances from your eyes. An improper fitting can damage your eyes. Once you have the correct fit from our optometrists, we will help you decide what type of contact lenses are right for you.

Specialty Contact Lenses

We also offer specialty lenses, such as scleral lenses, which are oversized lenses that arc over the cornea and rest on the white parts of the eye. This helps reduce intraocular pressure and prevent dryness. We offer rigid gas permeable lenses. These lenses are comfortable and offer great airflow to the eye. Custom soft lenses can be used for any prescription power or size. These are best for those with astigmatism, nearsightedness, and farsightedness.
